Big storm coming to SE PA got my stove cranking(12 degrees this am) loaded the wood ring with 2 year red oak too keep the house warm since well most likely loose power. Can't wait to do some plowing with me new quad and plow set up and sit by the stove drink some beer and watch the blizzard. Any one else excited?!!

I say Bring It! The forecast here doesn't look too bad, I think the wind will be the worst part. I could do without a power outage but if it happens I'm ready. Got at least 3 days of wood in the garage so I don't have to go out if I don't feel like it.

Oh and I've the requisite milk bread and eggs so I can make french toast when I get hungry.

Supposedly this neck of the woods is slated for around a foot or so, not accounting for drifts. Got plenty of 2-year-old red oak stacked, that's all we've been burning since this cold spell started.

Snow thrower is ready to roll, just gotta gas it up.

Ditto on the excitement and not having a plow. We're expecting to lose power due to living out in the sticks. It happens. A couple of years ago we went 4 days without power and some folks down the road went over a week without. But for the moment the house is stacked full of wood and we have plenty of food options so that'll do. Forecasters are expecting up to 20" here, we've already got 6" on the ground but a dry slot just formed over here thankfully.

You probably are referring to the "Sandy" storm or the "Halloween" storm the year before that, we also were out for about that time frame; that's one of the reasons why they decided to put these massive 85 foot poles up with high tension wires, to upgrade the electrical system, so we'll see what happens. They put them about 20 feet into the ground, they look like missiles in Russia or something, just strange to see these things and hopefully they stay upright, if they'd fall on a house or person we've had it lol!

I said they should put some fake tree branches on them to at least make them look like trees!

We don't live where this storm is going to hit but we get everything we need all summer long like extra food, gas for generator, wood - no brainer-- then we keep at least a month of wood on closed in porch and so on. Then it is filled every week during the burning season. We have done this for 28 years that we have been married. We don't go any where unless we have to. I work 5 steps out the back door into shop.

No it wasn't Sandy, but we did lose power during Sandy. It was out for less than a day. Kind of amusing as my family is all in NJ and none of them lost power, even my grandparents who were less than an hour's drive south of the eye. The power company has been doing a lot of work since then, cutting up a number of trees near the power lines and upgrading the poles, nothing like you have but better poles at least.

I lost power for 166 hours after Sandy. Not that I was counting. That prompted the generator purchase. Of course, we used to lose power regularly. Now we only lose it for a couple of minutes at a time.

Same here. It's barely grazing our area, if that. I love wood burning, but I'm not a winter person (it's the only part of winter I like). However, battening down the hatches after prepping for the snow-in can be fun..............sometimes.

We're not supposed to get it here in central Maine. The snow means overtime for me, but, at the same time, I am never able to take care of things at home until the storm is well over. By that time, I'm pretty tired, and, I've been told, a little crabby.

I hope none of you guys loose power I spent over three weeks in jersey for sandy. I know there sending crews to put power back on if you lose it hope they don't need more. We're not supposed to really get any bad weather here, but I have about a month of wood in garage and back porch three year old and just waiting to burn all locust. The ones who do get hit good luck powers will be back on maybe even from me.

Just had a power outage for A few hours today here. Utility said a pole was down. Good to give the Genny a little run. Prolonged outages not fun though.

Not supposed to get to much in north east PA. I'm not happy about that, because I just got some powder boards I want to try out tomorrow. 21 now and the stove has me toasty.

Midnight update, got about 6 inches of snow went out for the first plow after loading the stove full for the night snow is pouring down and winds really picked up. Were in for the long haul here haven't seen a blizzard like this since 95. Feels good to be preparedfor once. Stay safe out there everyone. Hopefully get some pics up tommorow!

Got about 10 inches here so far and still snowing and blowing a lot. Was out to do some shoveling, but it's a losing battle; just gonna wait until it stops and do one cleanup, you go over an area and it is covered in minutes so it's a losing battle right now!
