Why I Use Pellets

Enbridge spokesman Chris Meyer said this is all because storage pools of cheap gas have been depleted by this year’s extremely cold winter weather.

So they are going to fill them with more expensive gas?

If you can, look into Bio mass fuels.

We use hazelnut shells and heat a 2400 ft house for under $100 a season.
Yeah the numbers are right, under $100 a season.

Not sure what you have up there, but I would be looking at any bio mass fuel such as nut shells etc that will feed through the stove.

Many "pits" work too.

Fruit pits, any biomass with sugars present (IE: corn) and some nut shells are proving to be quite acidic. Users are finding this out, to their dismay, after about 3-4 years of use.
Do some research on alternate "pellets" before you take the plunge in that direction.

its been 12% colder in Degree Days and a record supply of Nat. Gas was in surplus .. and supply as well . There trying to **** and Pillage all consumers and line a lot of pockets will cash....Same old corporate story

So far this year by burning pellets I've saved approximately $2400 over burning propane using $3.00 per gallon as an averaged propane price.

The last price I heard on propane was $1.09 a Litre. So times that by 3.78=$4.12 an American gallon (minus whatever the current exchange rate is.) would be about $3.71. I am pretty certain it has even gone up from there.
Seriously Ontario people those clowns in Toronto have to go. Nobody voted for Wynne, she was inherited from McSquinty and his croonies!

I've got a 500 gallon tank that I filed when the price was $2.09. By my calculation I would have burned roughly 1100 gallons of propane. So I would have had to buy another 600 gallons at the $4.00 price. So I just averaged my savings based on $3.

When I first bought a pellet stove, I paid $139/ton. Then it went to $169/ton. When oil spiked, the price went through the roof. I'm seeing a lot more pellet companies now, than I did 20 years ago.

This winter may very well increase next year's price, but big box stores seem to keep prices in check.

Same thing here. Neighbor got a used stove and calculated pay off to be one month and was warmer. Propain still above $3. Now he is looking at larger unit for his auto shop. If they dont stop pumping Bakken crude south, propane may not go very low this year an I don't know how farmers are going to negate the cost. Lower income families can't afford to heat with propain or convert to what? Hot air exchangers converting BS from politicians?

My only concern what if they started jacking prices of pellets up 40%, since everything else is going up!
