I have decided to purchase and install a Timber Ridge 55-PAH and also want to install a thermostat. My question is: If I use the thermostat to allow the stove to shut off and then back on..on the days when it is not so cold...does this significantly reduce igniter life? As always, your help/advice is greatly appreciated.

The short answer is yes. The more the igniter fires, the shorter it will live.
That being said. Igniter are meant to be used so use it.

Of course it does...and I expected that it would decrease it's life...but my question mentioned the word "significantly", and that is what I was asking.
That I could live with..I am assuming you are using a thermostat and using the on/off feature of the stove?
Most stoves come with warranties. If something were to be faulty with your igniter chances are it would "crap out" sooner. In which case the warranty would probably replace it. Worry less, let your investment start saving you money.

It's going to light x number of times, if you light it one time a day or 10 it will still wear out in the same number of cycles. If you cycle it more times a day then the number of days that it will work will be less.
I guess in my world we bought the stove to use it and if a small item like the ignition quits then we will deal with it at that time.

My stove is 5 years old and still using the original igniter. I run it on thermostat all season.

My stove has been on room temp auto almost exclusively since it was new November 2013. At 15 times a day it goes off (I believe it's quite a bit more than that) it fired off 4500 times and is still going. I did run some tests on room temp auto and manual and it's a proven fact it takes more pellets to keep the stove running in all but continuous below zero conditions. At 5.00 a bag it only takes 15 bags of pellets saved to buy an igniter for my stove. I could easily save that many in a year of running so I'm ahead of the game this year. That's not counting the wear and tear on all the other mechanical components that was saved. YMMV

Yes. I changed the swing 1.5 degrees and set the thermostat higher to decrease the amount of time the stove cycles. In cold weather it don't matter much but when it's 35 or above the stove will cycle several times a day.
My stove runs on a thermostat on the "on / off" setting - all winter long 24hrs day. I would think that this significantly increases the life of the ignitor since the stove is not cycling through the on/off program.
