Is it not missing all it's firebrick? To me that's like buying a car that has no oil showing on the dipstick.
However, if the price is right, I guess you would need to look closer for cracks. Does that have secondary combustion?

I’m pretty sure ! I know my neighbor said a couple of years ago, the guy had a chimney fire !!

Its an older Timberline steel stove, not bad for its time period. That upper baffle looks pretty beat, and running it without bricks (if they did) is not a good thing. I'd pass on it, there are too many better stoves to use out there, IMO.

Depends on the price and what you want it for. To heat a shop for $200 to $300 sure. To heat my house or for any more than that nope

I was going to try to get it for free clean it up and paint it and sell it.

For a Timberline with a crappy auto draft thats probably broken? Cleaned up painted new brick etc your looking at $400 tops in mostarkets for that stove so you might make $250. For 8 to 10 hours total to do it well? Not worth it to me. Especially when you could make that just picking it up and selling it as is.

I know used stove prices including old smoke dragons are insane on local sales, but something is only worth what someone will pay for it.
The issue is new stove prices have been on the increase, a quality cast DV gas stove vented vertically through the roof with gas line ran is around 8K here now, never thought I'd see that either, but its here. God help us all.

I bought many wood stoves real cheap and free, wire wheeled , painted and sold for a few hundreds to almost $1000. They sell really well closer to winter. Surprisingly you can sell a small ftsq wood stove for $250 easily, the bigger the more $$$
