I am looking into purchasing a Wood Doctor WD HE-5000 or WD HE-5000. Does anyone have any experience with these units? Do they hold up well? Do they eat wood like a horse eats hay? Does anyone know of anyone who has one of these units or has installed or worked on these units that I could call and talk to about how they like or dislike the unit before I invest $$$ in one.

Thank you
Bob in Vermont

I have the original wd converter and at the present time very satisfied, that said reading the different threads about some of the "new designs" to meet emissions that the different manufacturers are building and the issues folks are having, I am not sure about being the first on the block to own one. A little time to work out the bugs. Good luck

Bob,
I knew you'd find this site, even though I gave you the wrong address. You will find everything you need here. As you can see, I'm still active here, fine-tuning my own set-up. I've decided to some internal fund raising is necessary so I can upgrade my underground piping. Be sure to ask every question that's on your mind in this forum as this is "the place to be".

PS - excellent class Saturday, thanks.

The HE5000 is the exact same as the original converter that has been around a dozen years.
It is just a smaller version. Also, just saw them at a show, and they just updated the air intake on both models so they are not burning as Rich. Burns hotter now. Looks like a real nice unit. Built heavy duty. The HE5000 also has a nicer door setup then the original converter. I took a picture of it.
