Wood holder home made (pic)

Thought I would share. Made completely out of 2x4's. Wood shed to be built in the spring. This is on my deck so I don't have to go out in the yard and dig under tarps for wood. This lasts about 2 weeks of burning. Total in lumber is about $20. the stain was left over from building my deck. Bought one box of screws for about $5.

Good job redneck. Check me if I'm wrong but in the peninsula you do get a good amount of snow there? And how has the fall been so far as far as temperature goes?

Here, November has been way above normal temperature and we haven't even seen a snowflake yet. They tell us that is about to change tonight but we'll see. It was still mid-40's today. It has been terrible weather for rifle deer season. I had all my cold weather clothing ready and never wore it even once. Now I'm done hunting and about ready to start cutting wood.

Nice job. Here's one I slapped together. Waiting a year to stain it to match the deck. Best this about this one is I can take it down in the spring and move it off the deck fairly easily.

Here, November has been way above normal temperature and we haven't even seen a snowflake yet. They tell us that is about to change tonight but we'll see. It was still mid-40's today. We get probably about 1-2 feet at the lowest elevation over the entire winter here on the Kenai peninsula. The whole Kenai peninsula is forest. Lots and lots of forest. This year so far we have only got about 3 inches. It has been unusually warm and some of it melted, so only about 1 inch currently on the ground over a layer of ice. Higher elevations get LOTS of snow, mountains are 30 minutes from here, I can see them from my house on a clear day.

Hard to tell from the picture but is there a roof or soffit above? I ask because would like to build something similar on my deck but it would be exposed on the top as I don't have any sort of overhang.

No roof on it. It sits under my house's overhang.

Nice and neat. Take your wood out evenly, or it will try to lean.
Do you have a choice of hardwood in Kenai? I spent 9 years in Anchorage - the best we had was white birch.

Nice work. Also curious what wood you get to burn up there? I've got a 4' x 6' rack out on the deck and I get a little nervous when it's filled with hedge. 8'x8' at the standard 22" I cut would be nearly a cord and nearly 5000 pounds in hedge - probably a quick way to crush a deck!

To answer some of the questions:

The type of wood I burn is Spruce and Birch. Mostly Spruce though, beetle killed trees, so they are already seasoned.

The rack doesnt tilt or lean and I pull the wood from top to bottom. It's very sturdy and built completely out of 2x4's, gussets in the back top to keep it stable left to right, and front to back it has 2x4 feet.

Weight is not an issue, no way my deck is going to crush, I could put 10 cords of wood on it and it would be fine. It's got standard 2x8 joists on 16 in center, but they are sitting on 4x12 beams, so, it aint gonna crush, I built it so I could put a lot of weight on it. The deck doesnt have any nails in it at all, I believe in screws, much stronger.

Looks sharp . . . I have something similar to this on my back porch . . . but not stained and definitely not as pretty looking. Nice job.
