Can I get some help on IDing this wood. Shown is the bark and split

Yep, that's maple. The spalting (dark grain) is a dead giveaway. Most maple has some sort of spalting but red maple especially. Box Elder even has red spalting! It's on the low to medium end of the BTU spectrum for hardwoods but it's still a hardwood and good quality firewood. I heat my house last year almost exclusively with red maple.
