Hello everyone, first time poster here! I've caught the wood splitting bug and after endlessly googling trying to find out what i've scrounged, I figured it's time to ask the experts. I'll number each different split and the images of it. If you guys don't mind just labeling your answers with the corresponding number I would really appreciate it!

1.) pics 1-2 (clueless) Split extremely easy
2. pic 3-4 (maple of some sort, rock?) medium difficulty splitting
3. pics 5-7 (pin oak?) very easy split
4. pic 8 (ash?) easy split
5. pic 9-10 (ash?) probably the most difficult split of the bunch, had lots of stringy strands and loose grains

Thank you guys in advance, can't wait to get some responses and keep learning!

5,6,7 I don't think is Oak; wood is too white, no sapwood visible, split wood doesn't look like Oak. If it has visible medullary rays, which Oaks do, I'm wrong. 9,10 look like it could be White Ash, bark pic would help.

1. Bark kinda looks like hickory
2. split piece looks like gum
3. Definitely not pin oak. Need better pics to ID
4. Not ash, looks like pine to me
5. Cant tell without bark pics, but the wood looks like a softwood

2. split piece looks like gum
Yeah, I edited my Maple guess. Gum is more like it, but bark looks different from what I've seen here (Sweetgum, Blackgum.)
