Wood ID please, Owner said Ash?

The Owner said it is Ash, is he right? They look a little yellow when split.

It looks like it may be tulip poplar to me. Tho I am no expert. Either way it sure is firewood.

The only picture that says ash to me is 1c. I also have not seen an ash tree or log in 3-4 years so will defer to others.

It is not hard to split (I have 22 Ton splitter) some of them a little stringy. He just drop it, but I think It is not healthy.

+1 on ash. I see you are in PA. The emerald ash borer has taken out a ton of ash around here. You might see some small D shaped holes in the wood.

Nice been able to get ahold of a lot of ash because of all the trees dying. All the ash trees on our road and a couple streets over are all dead. They have been removing here and there and a lot of the tree landscaper guys been just giving the wood away. I'm not complaining.

Nice around here too. Municipalities and the utility companies are having most of the ashes removed before they become a problem. Shame is in couple years it may be slim pickings.

Tulip Poplar in the Mid-Atlantic region tends to have a green ring towards the center of the round. Not all rounds will have it, but most will. On top of that, Poplar tends to stay pretty light, even after seasoning a while. The Ash in your picture is more of a redish color.
