Like a good drink, 2 is always better than 1.
 
If your experience is like mine, one year will be a fight and a waste; I'd say two. A couple of months ago I lucked into some standing dead (very, very dead) locust that was at 14% MC on the stump. I'm already burning that stuff.
 
That wood is fresh locust? Three years and you won't regret it. I burn a lot of BL. Difference is remarkable letting it go 3 years.
