Wood ID please...

My friend has a bunch of this wood on his property he said I could have. Is it locust?

It's easy to process. Splits easy, dries fast, decent btus. Burns good after one summer of seasoning. Lots of positives.

White Ash. Half of the trees in my lot are White Ash. Let us know how the processing works out. And pics, please.

Typically this is one of the easier hardwoods to process . . . there was one former member here who used to just give his white ash a hard scowl and it would practically split itself. Truthfully, unless there are a lot of knots, it generally splits up quite easy . . . even with a maul or ax.

Great question; guess I'll have more to post!

He actually has a bunch of trees that fell. Most need to be bucked but there are some in smaller pieces like the ones I posted.

Access is a pain (an inclined wooded area behind his fenced in backyard), but hopefully will be worth it once the wood is in hand.
