Any ideas what this is? Never have seen this bark pattern before. Eastern WV.

It is hackberry. Stringy tuff to split by hand. Burns well once seasoned.

I had one fall 2 years ago, haven't burned it yet as I haven't gotten to that stack yet. It will burn this coming season. It was stringy but I use hydro so NBD

Hackberry - Burns well, splits crappy. Even with a hydro it takes a full stroke for most splits. They can get big (and heavy):
