I’ve been a lurker for a while now and learned a lot from searching the forum. I have access to a lot of the wood shown for free and want to make sure it is worth the time to cut and split. It appears to be two different kinds of wood. Nebraska is the location. Is the first pic ash and second one cottonwood? I’m horrible at tree ID!

Ash is also my guess. Thank you for giving your state. That can make ID easier.
