I found this on the side of the road and there's more of it. Splits real easy, smells like citrus, pale yellow wood. The bark peels off in big strips when I split it. Any ideas?

Well never mind folks, I seem to have answered my own question. The stuff reminded me of mulberry with its wide growth rings and yellowish wood. Heavy and sappy too. So on a hunch I Googled "albino mulberry" and came up with a Wikipedia entry on Paper Mulberry. The bark on the webpage pic is a match. And I guess I should have mentioned that when I picked it up off the curb, the branches had catkins.
