I have a chance to get this wood and it may not be very far away. Can anybody identify it? I'm thinking ash but I don't know about the dark center.

looks like you have a mixture. Big stuff looks like Ash, smooth bark stuff looks like beech
If it's tulip poplar I don't think I want it. If it's ash and beech I'll try to get it. I think I'll message them and see if they know.

I agree. I saw ash and beech right off. Thinking maybe some maple also
The stuff that is dark in the middle looks like poplar. I don't burn poplar. On the other hand, I like ash.
