Wood in CT

Hello everyone. I am new to the site even though I have been lurking for about 6 months. I am concerned with my wood supply for the upcoming winter and would like to see if anyone knows of anybody that sells wood in CT. I am about 15 minutes from Hartford in Bristol.

If any has any connections or recommendations for wood that would be awesome. I am looking for seasoned or non seasoned which I could possibly season myself. Thanks for all you help and love the site!

You can get some kiln dried from BNC Tree Service. 860/653-8260. Gents name is Brian. I'm out in Burlington and he delivers to me. I would grab some now and let it season through the summer. Kiln dried stuff should be good to go. It is dried to 20-25 MC. That was in January

Both offer green split or logs and season/split

Nearly every wood seller is selling "seasoned" wood. Just assume it is green and let it sit in your stacks at least one summer, two is better.

I don't know the guy name or phone number but I drive by his place all the time on stafford rd. also there is a place in new Britain on john Downey drive central pallet they sell leftovers from pallets making as a fire wood. There is some nice thick chunks in it. There is a tree company on route 72 as you go to terryville they sell wood but I am sure it won't be seasoned. Welcome fellow bristolian to the forums.

BT Enterprises sells Eco Bricks for $260 a ton. I usually buy a ton a year to supplement my wood.

Thanks Prezes. You are from Bristol as well? I see you have what looks like the same insert I have. How are you liking it? Worth the investment? I just had mine installed this past November and have been loving it. Have you gotten wood from any of those local places?

Also, don't worry about any of that wood you may see on the side of the road. It is completely not worth your time. It is all rotted and full of bugs. In fact let me know if you see any and I'll swing by to remove it before it becomes an eyesore.

My stove is smaller none cat version of yours. It's a great heater but I wish it had deeper fire box. As far as wood goes so far I didn't have to buy I have been lucky enough to find free wood. I was however buying eco bricks to extant my burn times. This year I might buy some of the wood scraps from that pallet place. Yes I am from Bristol

Thanks for the help! Mine is pretty deep and wide so it's primarily a EW loader unless I cut small splits. I am going to look into buying some ecobricks

Yeah, scrounging is getting tough. When oil was over $4, everyone started buying stoves. I see guys follow the tree trucks around now. Where I am, the local yard brush dump has nothing but leaves. I used to be able to take as much pine as I wanted, but not anymore.

Still, I hear it is even worse for the pellet guys. They seem to run out every year, and I know one of them that started burning oil again this year since he calculated it as cheaper.

BTW, I burn Eco-bricks, but prefer envi blocks. Recently I found a company called Hot-Bricks and those are very good too.

BT sells them all. Buy two three bundles of each and see which works best for you. I personally prefer eco bricks or if you can get Niels they are mean.

I will be extremely happy with the stove when oil prices go soaring. I bet alone this winter I saved over 2k. A couple buddies have pellet stoves. They always buy extra and always run out and the price goes sky high for pellets. I am very happy with the wood stove purchase so far (only my first season though). Hot bricks seem to burn hotter. They kiln dry the wood and it must be quality. Otherwise they have about the same size and burn time. The all nighters are NIELS. So if you've seen them then you know what they are. One in my stove burns hot all night as promised. I would be afraid to put any more than 1 and half because they start really hot.

I didn't like hot or bio bricks as much. I like Eco Bricks better due to their their bigger size and higher quality. I didn't try all nighters yet, but if they are as good as Niels they are great. One or two mixed with wood will give you all night burn.

I got a price of $850 from larry's land clearing for a triaxel load.. which would have been a win win for him and me because he was clearing nice trees about a 1/2 mile from my house. I just didn't have the $$$$

I got a truck load from him around thanksgiving. I paid $800 then. They told me to call back in the spring if I wanted another load because it would be cheaper. I finished processing that truckload a few weeks back so I'm looking to get another soon. But $850 now?

I thought it was $750 when i first talked to him... on a Saturday but the guy who called me said they had a load coming from southbury and it would have been $850 it was not larry i know that because him and i had a talk about getting a half load if possible because it was right around the corner from where he was and he could drop a half load off quicker them moving it and sending a truck back for what was left but the truck took it all in two loads nothing left over..
