Got some of that last year, insanely heavy. Burns good. So I'm happyHard maple, more like it.
That brings back memories, my brother and I were hauling wood out of a freshly cleared construction site. We hauled 10 truck loads of walnut rounds out of the main gate no problem on a Saturday, we showed up on Sunday and the gate was chained shut. Not to waste a trip, we went around the gate on a muddy service road and loaded my old GMC High Sierra 4x4 to the gills. On the way out we got stuck in the mud on my trailer hitch. We had to unload half the rounds to get unstuck and then carry and reload the rounds. We were a muddy mess, but we got a whole lotta of free walnut.
Nope, just a friend with a bigger truckThat second pic looks like you got stuck pretty good... do you have a winch?
That looks like Red Maple (soft maple) to me. It might also be Silver Maple.
I wasn't sure myself but the split piece showing the grain looks like hard maple to me.
