Wood shed up

When I bought this house in Jan. there was this weird roofless structure just sitting there. I asked the old owner what it was, he told me one day his son got board and built it...... So I scrounged all the crap he left behind (gee thanks) and was able to put a roof (old plywood) and a floor (old 2x6's, hole saw and some metal electrical conduit). Should hold 3-4 cord Using it for the years burn.

Looking good. I need to build one here next year. I am using tarps and they trap a lot of moisture. I have enough composition roofing to cover a 200 sq ft structure, the largest I can build here w/o a permit.

The fact I have a tarp on mine means I should get a permit... I live in the woods though.

Great re-use of existing resources, Reckless! Now lets get it stuffed with wood!!
I will be milling my woodshed out in a couple weeks (it's still in log form right now). I have 5 big pine logs (spruce and white), the white will become the sheathing and the spruce will become 2x4's and 2x8's for framing. Still have several pine jobs lined up for later this month and into fall, I'll have a ton of wood for this big shed. I'll make the posts out of some locust (trust me, it's very hard for me to save 12 locust logs for posts, when I love burning it for firewood), but the locust will be a good wood to have contacting the stones on the ground......

I'm hoping to get started on that project just as soon as the frost goes away come next spring. It's been a long time coming....

How long before it full ?
Dry findable wood in the middle of winter is a good thing.
Tarps will work OK if you don't get a strong wind.

Scotty's woodshed will probably be as big as some people's homes lol. Yea I lucked out and didn't need to buy anything but screws.

Sad to say but it's the first time that swmbo noticed an outdoor project and said good job! Usually she's pretty oblivious to anything outside the confines of our house.

Why locust? Aren't there other rot resistant woods with less than favorable BTU outputs? Sounds sexy though cant wait to see it to fruition.

Which is what I did in '10. Got antsy, and the post hole digger kept bouncing off the topsoil. Not fun.
Reckless, you're going to love that this winter. I'm still tweaking mine.

Update!
Found more use for the electrical conduit, had to buy the clamps from HD tho for$10 I was hoping I could get by with scraps and pieces but hey cant win them all. Should be nearly full by tonight when I move all my ash and maple up from my main pile.
