Question:
Please try and help make a difficult decision easier, we are looking to add a standing stove to our living room, we would like to primarily use it as a gas/propane stove, but we would like the availability to use it as a wood burning stove in an emergency, ie: no propane. Would it be easier to install a propane stove, with specific venting that would also support a wood stove, or should we install a wood stove, convert it to gas, then be able to convert it back to wood if need be? Your help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Answer:
Neither..no stove is going to do what you want. The stoves and venting are completely different. One hint might be to install a class A chimney..at least this chimney would support either fuel, but you'd still have to switch the stove
