I think the Fireview fits that range.

Think of it this way; The Keystone is a T4, the Fireview is the T5, and the PH is the T6.

Not sure what the new stove will be, though.

Fireview rated up to 1600 sq. ft. T-5 rated up to 2000 sq. ft.. I felt the Fireview would be working too hard for 1632 sq. ft. with lots of windows.. Perhaps a stove rated up to 2000 sq. ft. would be a good size stove for Woodstock? The PH is rated 1600-2200 but after seeing it run feel it would cook me out of the room if not the house. Really cool stove though! I think a T-stat controlled 2 cu. ft. PH would be perfect

I think it has more to do with the design. The Classic and old 201 Fireview have the combustion air through the door and the cat and baffle are also a different design than the 205 Fireview.

I think Rich L may feel the Classic puts out a little more heat because the Firebox may be a bit bigger than the newer designed 205 Fireview so it holds a little more wood. I know when I had my Fireview the Fire box didn't measure up to the Woodstock specs.

Well to keep it simple.I felt the heat from both stoves.The Classic made me sweat the Fireview didn't.

The T5 and Fireview have about the same size firebox. The Keystone is a little larger than the T4 and the PH is just a bit smaller than the T6 in terms of firebox size, but offers a lot more mass.

Well, it seems most designs are staying away from the larger stoves. When you talk to most dealers, the market for a 3+ cu ft stove seems small. I have a hard time understanding that, but I have heard it quite often on hear and from dealers in person. On here, the BK rep that posts made it quite apparent that any new stove will most like not be larger than 3 cu ft.

That being said, there has been no further information released or posted about the new stove that Woodstock is entering into the contest. One rumor on here is that it will be a bare bones stove without soapstone. Which seems possible since the Progress has a cast iron firebox, if I recall correctly. But, really though, your guess is as good as anyone's.

My curiosity is piqued! A thermostatically controlled stove like the BK would something that would be popular. Seems it would not be that hard to accomplish . Pretty sure VC did it a long time ago as well. I also like the idea of a cast iron PH particularly if was convective with a blower option.

I know they were looking into 3 different t-stat options for the PH before they settled on some kind of butterfly valve. It would be nice to see more t-stat stoves out there, the control of the Blaze Kings are awesome.

I suppose if their 2.8 cu.ft. box gets a 14 hr burn time with that technology, a smaller one with similar burn time would sell. It would possibly appeal to me. Chasin' after the big dog Burger King, eh?
My issue with the Heritage (2.3 cu.ft.) was that it was a short night to get a good night's sleep after a big day's work. AAAAAAAAaaaaaaannnddddddddddd it was pushing the limits on the square footage rating. A sage man once told me."look at the firebox, stupid". The Mansfield (3.2 cu.ft.) solved everything.
I think that in my neck of the woods, where we burn mostly less dense woods (pine, cottonwood, elm) a bigger firebox holds as many btu's as the smaller box out in the real hardwood part of the country, and would have a better market. Provided you can get the customer over the catalytic hump. Tough sell here.

I have a Woodstock Classic in the lower level of our house. It was here when we bought the place about ten years ago. At that time I looked it up online and saw they were selling new for $2600. The original owner of the house told me he used it to heat the entire 2400 sq. ft. of the house, which is two levels. He claimed he was able to pull warm air out of the den where the stove is located just three feet from a cold air return. I think he used the central air handler to move the heated air through out the house. I tried to follow his lead on this, but never had any success in getting serious heat upstairs. He burned the stove very hot and did not use the catalytic combustor. He apparently burned the stove wide open through the large six inch round bypass. The top baffle had actually melted and sagged down into the firebox for the back three inches of so of the baffle.

I rehabbed the catalytic combustor mechanism and bought a new combustor. I contacted Woodstock about a new top baffle, but they said they don't have parts for rebuilds any longer. I fabricated a steel plate that I just bolted over the damaged section of the baffle and it seems to have gotten the baffle back to its original configuration. The stove burns fine and throws some serious heat. The beauty of the stove is its simplicity. I fill the firebox with the bypass open and fire it up. Within a half hour or less the top is up over 300 F and I slide the combustor into place and it's glowing red hot in five minutes. Every couple of hours I throw another split or two in the stove and adjust the slide air intake control as needed. The stove will burn nice and steady between 500 F and 600 F. The combustor just slides over the bypass hole by pushing on a rod at the back of the stove.

We replaced the baffle for our 1991 Fireview in October (warped and cracked). I am sad that the lovely Classic is "retired" (IMO it's the most refined stove they produce) but I understand why many may find it "boring". To me, though, the solid façade is sculptural, highlighting the figuring of the stone and the handsome castings that define the piece. I love the Classic that heats my workroom (I wanted a Classic in 1991 when we bought the Fireview), and it's taught me to pay stricter attention to stove top temperature because I can't "see" the flames in the firebox.

I've talked with them and thought they would have one rat holed in the back somewhere but the only one they have is in the showroom. They also said the last request was a no go.

Sounds like that thing would be a radiator deluxe. I guess one could set a candle in front of it....

Not new Classics, they have been retired. I think they are focusing on their new stoves and the demand just isn't there for the Classic.
