I had two pine trees fall on my house about 6 months ago, ($20k in damage, thank god for insurance) i cut it up and split it, in all i ended up with about 6 cords of wood. In the family room there is a brick fireplace that measures 29x29, it is 21" deep at the bottom and about 19" at the top, the hearth is 15" out and flush with the carpet. the mantle is 12" above the top of the fireplace and is wood. the fireplace has a stainless steel liner that continues through the roof that measures 6" and is 24" off the bottom of the fireplace, it seems that the previous owner of this 1930s house had a fireplace insert. i would love to just install an insert but with every one iv looked at costs way more than i can afford, does anyone have any ideas? i may be able to come up with $1000 with some sucking up to the wife. last year i was purchasing deisel fuel every day with my 5 gallon gas can to heat the house so you could say money is tight. the house is also 2400 sq ft.
