With the two front wheels, and pretty good size ones at that, it looks like it should get the job done. Please update after you've put it through the motions.

Went up into the forest and obtained some small pine - about 1+ cord. It gave me a chance to test my new electric wheelbarrow. The verdict? It made things about 40 to 50% easier than if I had used a standard wheelbarrow. The wood is always 50' to 200' away. And ATVs/UTVs not allowed except on roads. And no log dragging, so this e-barrow is a good option. The e-barrow is easier to use going up hill as opposed to down hill. I'm glad I got it. It should come in handy sometimes. It is easy to load.

Wow that's pretty heavy duty looking underneath. Looks like the rear end out of an ATV. Would be fun to take it apart and make go cart hauler

I split just over a cord of all-nighters today composed of red and white oak. Some rounds around 26” heavvvyy…woke up some carpenter ants from their winter slumber too…
Can you spot the flying oak round? Fell off the beam as I was playing paparazzi 😂

I ran into this last week, I popped a few in the stove and listened to them pop, the rest I left out and most of the ants were gone the next day.. so I guess some birds are well? 🤣

I had an offer to get some EAB dead ash that was down, we just had to get it out of the woods. The first day we bucked everything up in certain lengths and the dragged it out with a cable with my truck, that was yesterday and we did two loads. Today I thought it would be an easy day until I saw my friend come around the corner with a wheelbarrow, with a smile he said, lets fill it up, so we did.

Our trailer wasn't used, the welds on the left hinge broke when I put the tailgate down when cleaning off the snow and the pine needles so since we had this planned, I rented a small 5 x 9 U-Haul open trailer for a few days.

The food picture is some chops with Utica Greens. The two pictures of the wood in the snow are the same picture.

Nice score, that ash is still in great shape. I haven’t seen one that “healthy” around here since around 2021

More work today adding red oak to the pile. Straight grain red oak splits like a dream.

I brought over 2 sets of logs and got through it all.

Finished the structural work yesterday and got the rest of the boardwalk framing done today. Have to bolt the sections together and permanently nail the rafter ties yet, which will probably wait until after deer season unless I get unreasonably lucky. Decking will probably have to wait until spring because the flashing has to be applied over 35 degrees to a clean dry surface and the weather has already cooperated more than I should have expected...

Next years boardwalk is a little shorter and flat; and now that I have the methodology figured out should go quicker.

Pole shed structure is theoretically going up first week of December.

Should try to get the generator hookup and disconnect in soon...🙄.

It sure does split like a dream! I split a couple cord with my X27 this spring and only had to save a few pieces with knots or crotches for the hydraulic splitter. A few of the rounds I got 45 pieces out of. (I split oak on the smaller side to help speed up the drying)

If the weather allows us, there could be more coming. I'll start splitting & stacking the ash in the picture real soon.

Filled the garage up and split some wood before dark. They were calling for rain last night so I wated to get it done while dry. Weather looks ok till mid next week then cold and rain/snow but I'm ready.

Well done! What's going on with the roof on the section nearest where the tree used to stand?

I started splitting & stacking the ash today, I didn't get the full two face cord stacked but that should happen tomorrow.

I would've had the 2 face stacked but I cleaned out the truck of everything I brought down to skid out logs and I also cleaned three saws along with the bars.

The last picture is what's left.

Shingles are on order, should be showing up any day now. They were on temporary back order, hence the hole in the roof.

Nice progress. Do you split manually or have a hydraulic splitter?

Worked in my buddy’s shop for a bit today, we ended up modifying my dog of a Farmac chainsaws’s exhaust (added two angle exhaust pipes and hollowed it out), then I sharpened it using his dremel sharpener (I need to buy one), and tuned it using a tach and a down oak tree.

It definitely woke the saw up… and if any of the neighbors were sleeping, it woke them up! 🤣

No ATV's and no log dragging, in Idaho?? Good grief

Refilled the porch rack with some more hep from my youngest and made some more kindling. Lots of oak, cherry, and ash coming up. I’ll be sad because this is my last stash of Cherry that i see in my stacks. Probably another refill or 2 left of the porch rack worth 😕. Cherry hard to find around here.

5 year white pine kindling is very dry!

Long story…I did post about that section in the Work Done 2023 thread

I’ll try a “quick” explanation

My property is an old farm. The workable land around my property has been taken over by farmers who rent from the owners of the surrounding properties. I do not farm.

So, the buildings are the farmhouse and two barns. All three buildings are connected and form an L shape. The farmhouse is at the top of the L and the two barns make up the corner. Each barn is 30 meters long X 9 meters wide. I own the two barns, and with that comes about 5 acres of land.

The barn in the middle was converted in the late 80s and is where I live.

The barn that is the base of the L is the first building I bought and it is a ruin. We had originally purchased that barn ruin to convert into our house and that is still the plan.

Right after we purchased that ruin in 2012, we called the owner of the converted barn to request access to remove some trees. That owner of the converted barn immediately tried to sell her barn conversion to us, which we rented for 7 years and then purchased in 2019. That meant the barn ruin project got postponed.

In 2023 two tie beams fell in the ruin and I became concerned with safety. My buddy has a cherry picker and we began demolishing the crumbling roof.

At that time, we had restarted plans on the barn ruin conversion. We hired a project manager (Maitre D’œvres in France). The project manager halted our demolition the day of her first visit for multiple reasons.

So, I’m left with an exposed gable end with two large trusses teetering on the knife edge of falling down because of French bureaucracy. Between the mayor and his cronies changing the zoning in an administrative mistake and post covid delays in general French administration, I still live in a place that would be red-tagged and forced eviction if I lived in the USA.
