Whew..... I was considering a napoleon fireplace and worried what this post might say. As long as the actual stove unit is ok then I would look into retrofitting some type of universal fan into the housing and have the power sourch checked too. It may take some time to get it right, but it may be the best solution.
Would never buy a napoleon stove again!!

I haven't liked the fans being inside the back of the fireplace in this model's design. But Napoleon makes a lot of different models and in general I think they have a pretty good track record. For the problem at hand, I would be looking for a different solution than the current 1101 design. What is the warranty on this stove?

Reminds me of when my cousin was designing test equipment for the production line at Texas Instruments. He said the stuff that tested marginal went into your TV set. If you had a TV made from the stuff that tested high enough for NASA your TV would last seventy five years or more.

Look I am just making a comment about my experience. I just thought I would see if there were any other cases like mine. I did not mean to start a war. No, Napoleon will not honor any warranty because it has expired. Like I said also the parts are a royal pain in the ass to get because NO ONE in the US of A stocks them. They have to come from the not so great white north each time. Last winter It took an extra month to get a fan because Napoleon was out of them in Canada
You won't have to worry about me posting anymore because like I said some of you are just MEAN.

Nobody starting a war, and nothing was meant as to be personal or bust your balls on experience. My comment was that there was just allot of people unhappy with there stoves lately. I also made reference to the fact that I'm sure your problems and concerns were real. I had them myself with the VC I have. Most folks I think find out that issues they are having are due to inexperience and in time learn to cope and figure what they are doing wrong. Everyone was in your shoes at one time. I just don't like being chastised by one of our moderators and then him doing the same thing. Sometimes these post get out of hand and end with post that had nothing to do with the original question. And yes I do hate my barrel stove. by the way Ford motor Co did have many serious with the two new blast furnaces at the rouge plant back in the 20's.
Sounds like the 1101 has been a bad experience for you. Sorry to hear that. I on the other hand have a Napoleon 1900 that I've been using for 3 years and do not have one complaint about it. It is unfortunate that you purchased something that is supposed to give you great service and last for years, yet it hasn't. Have you tried to contact the factory via their website? They also have a good dealer network that offer quality assistance. I would check with another dealer for help. Stars Chimney Service in Fort Wayne, IN is a Napoleon dealer and has been a great company for me to work with. You may give them a try for advice. http://www.starschimney.com/index.htm

If you go to the Napoleon website you can only post a question to them. You cannot send a full blown e-mail. So I did post a question and hopefully someone will respond to it. The installer who put mine in bought it from a place called Copperfield Chimney supply. Copperfield will not even answer his calls and he buys from them on a regular basis. You cannot get ahold of them unless you have a login and password. I mean they don't even have a phone number listed. The other local dealers said if they did not install it they were not willing to help. Nuff said. I ordered all of the electrical parts and am replacing them. I am going to really look at the rest of the wires for damaged insulation and so forth. Like I said I am going to buy 1) the most popular insert next time 2) something made in the country I live in. If that is possible anymore I even looked at the Jotul but can't get past the fact that it might be a pain to get parts for being made in another land far far away.

Weird. I had questions about their brand new 1400C model. I found their number on the bottom of an online brochure (705-721-1212), called them up and asked for someone handling their cast iron wood stoves, and had a very pleasant person within 30 seconds helping me out, answering tough questions about warranty details, etc.
Odd you couldn't get hold of them.

I've had my 1900 for four years and still love it. I've put a lot of wood (20 cords) through it and I have the blower. No real problems that I could'nt take care of so far. A good resource on many Napoleon products is Woody at the contact info below. He seems to have all the time in the world to talk with folks and tries very hard to make customers happy. I should also say that he seems to have contacts within Wolff steel which help him be the best.

More seriously, seems like you registered and made your first post here just to blow off steam, not to look for advice with how to deal with your problem. That's fine, but geez, you come into a new place and announce a whole line of popular stoves are a piece of ****, seems to me you can expect some blowback, no?
You've had a really frustrating experience with this, and please accept my sympathies, condolences, etc. I do think it might be worth your while to get an electrician or something to check out your power before you invest in a new set-up because of the blower blow-out problems. As I've learned to my dismay, erratic power supply can be invisible to the daily operation of most household appliances but do a fair amount of damage to the works inside. I've had to put high-end surge protectors at many of my outlets because of it.
we have a napoleon 1400pl no blower though. It has been so much better than the VC that was in it's place before. We can't be happier with it.
