Description aside, that's not a terrible price around here (in August) for a green cord C/S/D. At least they're telling you exactly when it was split! :)

still better than this deal:

last year we could get a cord of green delivered for $160. IT is not $180 and some are even $200..The firewood deal right now is just like the housing market was three years ago. For me, I dont spend a dime on firewood, just go out back and drop a few more trees!

Unless that is finely split ash or birch... well- you know about how it will probably burn this year.

Someone trying to beat the price of fuel without enough research is going to get screwed, and it's potentially dangerous.

You can get cheaper than that!its just that area around stanford is considered rich people land.

You guys don’t know a good deal when you see one.

A face cord is roughly 1/3 of a full cord. @ $250 a face cord you would be spending $750/cord. Who would spend that much?

In NYC I bet he finds someone.

Some are just trying to take advantage of the current energy panic. They know that somewhere out there someone will buy the wood at any cost.

I think that 275 kiln dried face cord is more of a niche item for fireplace people with $$$$$ Not for those trying to heat homes.... Although how great would that be, ye my holder is empty, bring me another 275 face cord. LOL

If you don't mind me asking , what did your Rockland 550 cost back in May? Wood up here costs anywhere from 175-225 a full cord.

1 FACE cord $250.00 16"Wx 4’H x 8’L free (as shown on the picture)

Wow, this is expensive wood, oil is cheaper heat. Above is only 42.67 cf, or 1/3rd cord, or $$750 per cord. Given seasoned hardwood can deliver about the same heat as 125 gallons, oil would have to cost $6 per gallon to cost as much as the listed wood price.

EDIT: I next looked at the link, boy what a rip...and false advertising, seems to suggest "his" 1/3rd cord has the heat of a full cord.

I think this type of wood at these prices is meant to be burned at an oil execs house during the holiday season while he figures out his profits for the year. Nothing like the warm feeling a wood fire brings while you figure out how much you screwed your fellow man!

Two things. First, it is kiln-dried. Second, a lot of people in Hamilton have enough money that they do not need to check the prices on stuff. (Not everyone of course, but it is rich town with some beautiful properties).

I am willing to be bet they do not sell to many (or any) people heating with wood. They are selling to the "add atmosphere to your next cocktail party" crowd.

Yeah, that sounds like a high-end delivery service. They set up the holder for you, deliver kiln-dried wood on demand, and stack it for you. It's the opposite of "let's heat our house with wood to save money," but I'm sure it's a valid niche market in a wealthy area.

High end service should include starting the fire, maintaining the fire, and ash removal once the fire is out. Of course the persone doing this will be required to wear a tux.

I hadn't given the good ideas presented consideration. Of course someone who is paying thousands for a catered party wouldn't think "too much" for the wood service if they wanted it for part of their party atmosphere. They might even burn it in an outside fire pit... in nice weather.

hello I could not help but to notice my companies name up on your blog ... Yes i will be the first to admit to all of you my firewood is expensive. With the initial delivery with holder and 2 refills the total cost to my customer with the new price change since you last chatted is 900.00 per cord... This is a niche market of course and we have over 400 customers and the average order is 1.5 refills a year.. Please consider a few facts before you through us under that bus 1.. We guarantee that it is kiln dried and ready to burn when ever you order. 2 we guarantee your supply all season in feb when you will not find firewood thats a viable product around these parts. 3 The cost of doing business for only 7 months out of a year. You can find firewood for alot cheaper dropped in the driveway and you are told its seasoned but we all know one mans seasoned is anthers green. I know of only a few firewood suppliers in this area that do it right and stand behind their product the way we do. We also offer our customers a cord of green in our off season dropped not stacked for 250. in our off season. The first thing i ask a customer who calls is what they are doing with the firewood ie. heat or a fire on the weekends if its heat I let them know this is not for them. Hope this helps. Thanks for the interest Peter

It is what it is! around central indiana drop in driveway 150.00-180.00 per cord

peter,

Sounds like an honest business to me. Just not the firewood I'd buy...but I note the wood at the grocery store is something like $6 for about 6 pieces. So, if one wanted a fire in the FP for an evening's meal, $12 worth of firewood from the grocery store could be the best buy, but not a economical way to heat, as you've noted in your case.

I have no desire to "throw you under the bus"... you've got a honest business, and that's what customers need/deserve.
