Hi all,
A while back I posted regarding installing an extra section of metalbestos pipe to my woefully-smokey Earth Stove, and how much work was required to get a fire going to the point of self-sufficiency...........or something like that.
The install was quite easy, including the necessary supports.
In any case after starting it 4 times in the past week I'm very, very glad to say that I should have done this 12 years ago...............but instead I made excuses about how it was my lack of pyro-experience, etc.
It now starts very quickly with little or no smoke coming out the door, even when somewhat windy. The burn is much more stable and predictable as well.
Hey..........I can even turn the air down at some point to lengthen the burn time............Wow........what a concept
As was pointed out to me by some members who've owned this stove, it's still no silk purse, but it's my sow's ear and it's doing it's job in a much more beautiful manner.
Oink!
Couple this with the free batch of black locust and oak I was given (about a 1/4 cord, felled last March, and actually burning very nicely), and I'm doing just fine, thank you!
Looks like I won't need that draft inducer I was considering if the extra pipe section didn't pan out.
Thank you to all who've been so helpful!
Best,
Howard
