XXV Not feeding pellets

When I got up this morning when to the basement to watch the news and found my XXV was not throwing any heat. When I checked it found that the feed motor light was on but it was not running. I removed all of the pellets from the hopper to make sure there was nothing jamming and I cleaned the burn pot and all looked fine. Before I call my dealer what can I check ?

Turn the stove to test mode and see if the auger turns, also let it cycle a couple minutes in test mode. The combustion blower & distribution blower will alternate running in test mode, make sure the combustion blower is running. If the draft is poor because of a blockage in the flue or the combustion blower does not run, the feed motor and igniter will not operate because of low draft. The lights on the control panel will be on, but the power to both those components passes thru the pressure switch. If the pressure switch senses a low draft, the power will not be allowed to continue to the feed motor and the igniter.
Do you have any status blinks on the control panel?

Not sure how the Harmon's run (it is a Harmon?), but on Quads there is a vacuum line to the fire box that can get plugged and cause the unit to shut down (not feed). Again, on the Quads, just disconnect the line and gently blow it out with your mouth, that usually fixes it. A buddy of mine just had a service call for this, that's all it was.

Problem solved. I went on the roof to clean the flue pipe and found that the mesh wire I had put on the rain cap had plugged with fly ash. Cleaned ans put back together and all working fine now.

Good to hear. How fine a mesh is on that cap?
From the basement to the roof, sounds like a long run....
How often do you clean the pipe?

There is 8' of 6" SS pipe and then reduced to 4" for 16'. I clean about every 8 weeks. The mesh that I had installed on my cap had 1/4" squares. I installed this fall because I pulled out 4 dead birds. I guess that I will just re-install the screen after the heating season.

Put larger Mesh.
My record for pulling birds out of A pellet stove is 27 in one stove.

The funny one was A customer called and said the stove combustion blower was not working.
I said to check the blower for build up or Birds.
THey called back on Holloween and said they found 3 Bats in the blower.

go to the hardware store and ask for 1/2" hardware cloth....works well, and rarely plugs!

Thanks for the advise. I will stop on Monday and get new wire put on before the snow starts. I feel alot better with screen on there knowing I am not draging out any more birds !
