$75 for steve to bring 6 tons all the way to millinocket.
and i am happy to pay it.
we paid twice that for 6 yards of composted organic cow manure to be trucked up here from just about the same distance.

i think most people knew that softwoods at $235 a ton (in this region) was not going to be a long term price.
this year is an experiment for me. and i'm trusting steve's word ( and several positive opinions from board members) a good deal on these crabbes.

i liked the mwp softies well enough.
but as i have mentioned before, they didn't give me that great deal extra heat over the blend to allow me to burn significantly less amount compared to the blend.

i'll definitely report back in in deep winter to share my results w/ the crabbes.
i simply have to buy and try with the options i have. to far to travel to sample different brands.
as well as not having a truck.

ultimately though, there is no way i can lose compared to buying and burning oil.
no way i can get it as cheap as slls. (which i still think is more expensive than pellets btu for btu.) and i do not like forced air oil heat anyway.

all that being said, i do wish we had pellet prices here like they do in the pnw.
but my house here cost an extremely tiny fraction of what it would have if i was back in oregon where i grew up. so i won't complain.

Yea, I think his delivery charges are certainly reasonable.

Strange thing is, last year the published price for softies was $239 a ton. I put mine on a credit card, he took information, no swipe on the road. When I got my bill it was $470.

I turned down my 2 ton, $289 for MWP, too much.

It includes shipping.

please forgive my ignorance, for I don't know how far you are from SIB's, or how far SIB's is from Athens......in these parts (and I am reasonably sure I'm farther from Athens than SIB's is- not even in Maine here), Maine Hardwood Blend goes for around $239/ton (picked up). As for delivery, well, delivery for two tons locally would be about $57 (so, about, what, $29 bucks per ton in your case...or, delivered, about $268/ton)
