This isnt back in the "ole" days 10 year's ago when if you didnt buy your pellet's in sept you were chit outta luck, the shortage last year will make pellet's even more plentifull this year...I see you got sucked in!
What's your reasoning behind this statement? I'm presuming you mean the fact that many people are buying early and possibly more than usual, therefore there will be an abundance during the heating season? You may be right, but when it comes to heating my home and family, I don't assume anything. I buy in spring when prices are cheaper. I like knowing that I have an entire winters worth of heat ready to go. I would store 3 years worth if I had the room, as I did with firewood.

I think he means that if we have a warm winter, the suppliers will be overstocked and cut prices way back to clear them out. Those of us who bought early fell for the hysteria and paid more than we should have.

Gotcha. I'd be fine with a warm winter, but I wouldn't gamble my home heating on it. If they cut prices then I'll start stocking up for next winter earlier :)

If I could find Turmans around here I would gladly pay whatever they want. That would make it easy to sleep knowing I did not have to fire up an oil boiler that would have cost me well over $3k in oil last year.

I didn't think it was happening, but I'll tell you the pellet houses have an addl $20 in tons I saw at $300-310 earlier this year. I know folks are running a business, but just with September coming along I think folks have tried to buy early, and stores look priced a little too high and I won't be surprised to see things loosen up to move product in October.

This would be nice if it were to happen, but it might take longer than October. The place I bought Ambiance from back in May is booked through November for delivery and no longer taking orders for them as they haven't had a guarantee from the distributor that they will get anymore. They have limited availability for pickup as well. The manager there told me that they've seen a big increase in people that took advantage of the spring buy as well as people buying tonnage through the summer who used to just come in weekly through the winter.

Box store pellets are up to $239 here ...just waiting for a good brand to show up. Brutal winter predicted for SE New England. I am more worried about the grid itself than the price of the pellets. Thinking of buying a wood stove as a back up should the grid go down (crash). You are totally on your own as the recent natural disasters have proven. Am rural and heat 100% with pellet wood. I have a gasoline generator and a transfer switch and will shortly add a propane conversion kit to my gennie. Even a half dozen 20 lb propane tanks won't last long in a major grid crash.

Get to Coventry Tractor Supply. They have Somerset pellets at $240 per ton

$237.50 at my Lowes in Glenville NY $75 for delivery. First year, got 4 ton of Timber Heat since that's what they had for a total of $1025. Hope they aren't complete garbage.

My Dealer is 8-10 weeks out on deliveries. Best Pellet(vermonts) not taking anymore orders. Have LaCretes ordered. Picked up half ton of Green Team from Lowes at $5.68 a Bag. Even there running out. With a Half Ton of Vermonts left from last year I have enough to match my previous 5 years.
