I just purchased a new Efel S33 wood stove. I read the owners manual and it says nothing about break in fires. This is the first cast iron jacketed stove with steel firebox I have owned. My previous stoves have all been cast iron. Do these jacketed stoves not require a break in fires?

There are some that say a break in is unnecessary for a steel stove. Personally I like to do one small fire first to drive out any moisture from the firebrick. Then I go ahead and burn normally.

Steel, cast iron, bamboo, it doesn't matter; I would do break-in fires on any stove. It can't hurt.

My T5 stove which is also steel/cast iron jacketed called for the first few fires to be small/medium to allow for break in. Can't remember what the manual said, but I do remember the dealer telling me that.
