I can probably guess the correct answer, but we recently bought a new pellet stove (insert) and 4" flue kit and had it professionally installed. Had all kinds of issues with the pellet stove, so took it back and bought a new wood stove (insert). The wood stove has a 6" exhaust opening... any way I can utilize the 4" pellet flue system by using a reducer to connect the 2? Probably not, but I'm just looking to save some money at this point. Thanks for any guidance.

Sorry, not remotely possible. The wood stove will need to have the correctly specified flue diameter and temperature rating. Pellet pipe meets neither. The wood stove will need a new flue.

Not on the size, maybe 5" maximum, and it depends on what kind of pellet pipe, some is rated to 2100 F.. but the size is what kills you for sure.
