Here we go again !

I am going to be saving up and buying a different stove again! Harman has completely lost me as a customer or a user at this point! Why does anybody need to go through world war 3 to get something resolved when it is so simple. I will be returning the stove one way or the other ! So I need some new stove Ideas from all you as to what we should buy again. I was in a hurry before because our furnace is so expensive to run that we can't afford it and in the colder temps it can't keep up. At this point we are looking at a long road to return the stove so I have some time to look now! Throw out your thoughts and ideas please! I really do like Woodstock and am very seriously thinking about buying one but I can be swayed with a good argument.

I think you were originally looking at the Progress Hybrid but decided against it due to the shipment delay. Why not take another look as Woodstock is still offering the Progress at introductory pricing. From all reports Woodstock has excellent customer service so I don't think you'll need to fight another war. The majority of users, at least so far seem to be very happy with the Progress

I'd be looking at the PH if they're still $2400. Or maybe HD will have the steal on the 30 again.

While your looking for some nice heat, sounds as if youd also like a good looking stove thats well built with some actual customer support.
I personally have yet to call woodstock. I need to buy a few parts for some basic maintence. The total is going to be under 40 buck for some serious internal cast parts...yeah that makes me quite happy (note i bought mine used, its 5 years old) all i hear is their customer service is excellent. My wife did call them about their countertops. While we ended up buying a slab locally their price was still competitive and they were helpful over the phone.

I will also tell you to take a look at jotul. Very solid stove. Youll still be at the mercy of a dealer, but so far the three in my area are knowledgeable and have been helpful. Just probe them as far as you can to ensure they are right for you.

Those are two are what i can offer for advice. Personally pete, sounds like you liked dennis fireview. They are very pretty indeed. I have so far no complaints with mine, other than i wish i could have afforded a new one.

I have been happy with my Osburn 2000 Wood Stove. Remember I had an issue with my Stove Door Handle seizing up? Osburn, along with my stove dealer, Rich from Autumn Valley Farms
and even Fyrebug/Bert which is a member of Hearth and also works for Osburn came to my rescue to address the problem. Rich felt awful because it happened around Christmas and was determined that I
use my stove for Christmas. The only thing that I had to do was bring my stove door to Rich and He made my handle functional until Osburn sent me
another Door and handle. I even was in contact with Eric from Osburn Customer Service. He was very professional and caring concerning my Stove Door issue and worked
with Rich to get my issue resolved.

My stove has a 2.3 Cubic Foot FireBox and heats my 1500 square foot home up just fine. Even on the few Coldest days we experienced this
mild winter, my stove had no problem doing the job. My stove is in my Great Room and a ceiling fan above it distributes heat throughout the first floor of my home. My sons bedroom has two
outside walls as I do in my bedroom. As any knows, outside walls are the coldest but as long as we keep doors to those rooms open, my osburn keeps them at a comfortable, warm temperature.

Another option is Jotul Oslo Stoves. FireFighterJake here at Hearth and others swear by them. My neighbor just purchased a Jotul 500 series and it will be installed as soon as He is done with his hearth.
Many of my neighbors CoWorkers have them and say they are a wonderful stove. Just a suggestion for you my friend and I wish you a Happy, PEACEFUL, Wood Stove Hunting.

Get a Century, Englander or some other no frills stove with a large fire box. Do you ever wonder why there are so little questions and complaints from the owners of these?

Current hearth dimensions and location, stove pipe diameter will limit the choices....

Yes make sure you get what you want, I did not ask the right questions and got a convection stove when I really wanted a radiant type.

If you really like the Woodstock then that pretty much narrows the field and eliminates all steel box stoves. And I do think most buy what they want to look at as primary (within a price range) and then hope for performance ,durability, and customer support last.
The Elm excels very nicely at the last three but is on most people short list on the appearance, unless your like me.

My advice would be to shop around before you go with a stove.

I just got back from Heat N Sweep in Okemos I usually buy my fat wood and any other needed items from them. The lady there is very smart and nice so we gave it a shot and she showed us some really nice cat stoves here is the list.

I do like woodstock a lot however I am also interested in having a good local dealer I can trust to do business with. This is very frustrating for me at the moment lol.
Do any of you have an opinion on these stoves.

Wood4free you are right no more war would be great and I have called and talked to Woodstock they where very polite.

Jeff-t The ph is very nice and is on the top of the list right now. Home Depot was a lucky unlucky find lol the stove was great price but not for all the problems with it being dropped and all.

BeGreen I am of the same mind 3 cu ft is defanitly a must with our old house it struggles to keep warm in the dead of winter. What is your opinion on the stoves listed above?

Chett my issue is we are gone 13 hours a day and it needs to retain a good coal bed. Having some experience with no frills stoves I can say that though good they won't have a large coal bed like a cat tends to keep.

Old Spark I will defiantly do that. Sadly I thought we had a stove we wanted instead we got a good stove but no support.

Wkpoor that looks pretty cool I have never seen a clean air elm.

O I think I just realized something they showed us the non-cat which is 6" on the flue the cat looks like 8". No I need to stick with a 6" flue Bummer!

Pete, whatever you decide on, make sure you do a thorough background check on the dealer AND the manufacturer regarding service and warranties. And for my two cents, if I ever get another stove, I will be looking at the Blaze King line. The biggest one that they have. I am not crazy about the looks of that line of stoves, but their reputation seems founded. I like my Napoleon 1900 as it is big and does the job (esp. since I found the draft problem and cured it) but you cannot deal directly with the manufacturer. I hear a lot of good things about the Jotul 600 line too. And I REALLY LOVE the looks of the woodstock soapstone stoves, they look cozy and warm even when they aren't burning. Lots of good info on here from lots of great people, I am sure you will make a good choice. keep us posted brother!

They had some smaller Jotuls but I did not see this model however it looks nice I will research it more.

What are the opinions on Pacific energy stoves?

I looked up the dealer you showed above and they have a nice offering.

The Jotuls are top shelf offerings as are the Hearthstone soapstone stoves. One of the best stoves we read about is the Hearthstone Mansfield. It is a 3 cu ft box and though I don't own one, I think it is a really nice looking stove.

Quadrafire Isle Royale! i have a 1500 square ft house went to bed was 27 degrees out woke up to sweating and a Temp that was 89.8 degrees had to open up the slider case closed that stove is SICK !
