Those should burn really well for you. Very hot...I have 3 lab reports for this pellet and all 3 are over 9000btu/lb if my memory serves me right. I will post the lab reports here tomorrow, as they are at my office. Really, really good pellets.

I burned the first run and was impressed. They made changes so they should be even better. Mill upgrade throw a curve and they are having issues with fines. Seems its both Okies and now Black Hills. Salty has recieved both and both had a bit more fines than we would expect!

    Did you burn any yet?

I have noticed a lot of fines in the Black Hills and Okie (black/clear bags- platinums). A lot of the fines are actually sticking to the bag itself (possibly too much moisture when bagged?).

Its gonna be a thorn in Mr Warms side for a bit, But they are workin on it. New plant blues have em chasin their tails right now.

I heard thru the wire it might be from too little moisture, But no proof in the puddin just yet. The saga of as the pellet crumbles continues! ;em

Believe me when I tell you that I am as frustrated as anyone about the issues there. But if you are to be completely objective and fair, you must understand that these problems are with the bagging facility at the rail yord in MA. When these pellets come into MA, they are "loose pellets" on a train in big hopper cars, and they are subsequently packaged and palletized at this facility. It is a private, 3rd party company that has been contracted to do the packaging, not Okanakan. I offer this to you and the readers here not as an excuse, but a reason.

Are the rail cars water tight? never held coal before? I doubt it. I can't imagine clean pellets coming form rail cars....

If they are in closed hopper cars they will be dry, they ship grain etc ... that way.

3rd party or not it is still Okanagan....it is their name on the bag. It seems to me that they are either unable or unwilling to correct the issue....now I am only basing this on the reviews here...I know someone that has two tons on order due in a couple weeks. I will offer my opinion when I see them.

They were doing fine when they were just bagging pellets. So it doesn't sound like its got much to do with rail cars and yadda yadda. That part was proven last season and we did see less fines with them bagged in Upton and not BC.

I think I posted this before, They added a mill to the process. Something about remaking pellets from the fines they capture from the rail car and the bagging process screens. Mr. Warm said they haven't started to make the pellets from the fines yet, But somewhere something has changed. Hopefully when its figured out they'll pass alone what is was so we all understand. Right now, Things are still a work in process and I all I heard is they are working on it.

This is what I think, And only my useless though(2 cents) on it! I suppose that they got so far behind(do to the upgrade taking much longer than expected), They don't have much time to actually stop the line(shutdown the process) as they are trying to get out what they can. Until they get a we bit slow, I would say will have some flies in the soup. Lets just say they have a clue on what to do, But because they already have some PO customers(due to late product), Its better to ship out something(as its better than nothing). Once they get a bit slower, Maybe it will get properly corrected? Don't really know, Just guessing tis all and I bet I get an email too! ;em

I think that's horrible service. If I bought a teir 1 product and i get delivered a teir 4, i'm going to be far more po'ed then if i was told that there were quality issues, here's a refund, and i was able to buy a different brand this time around. I can respect that. Chit happens. I'll check back with them when things are ironed out if i still want the product or not.

But, if I get delivered junk = i'll never order from them again.

And as a business stand point, They gotta get something out to pay the employees and expenses. But I agree they are taking a risk at tarnishing there name/product.

I would still like to get some, Just to see what the actual percentage of fines is. Just for giggles!

Jay sorry but if you got a good product and make a change and it goes to shat you don't keep throwing shat at the wall. It don't stick. It all falls down to the floor. Sooner or later it'll stick but how much shat you got to throw to get it to stick. They're putting out a shat product right now and I paid top dollar for this stuff.

I challenge ANYONE that buys these right now, pickup the top bag off any pallet that came through upton this year and take a picture. It's garbage. They're lying to people all along, the plant never got fixed they just keep putting garbage out. Like I said to the Stalker before. People have no clue what they are buying.

    I'm with BrianSOL.

    This saddens me.

So, where in Northern MA (Groton/Littleton) can I get a legitimate top tier pellet now??? I can't find Somersets, Vermonts, Barefoots and apparently can't trust Okies.
