OAK Rocks

I installed an OAK on my P43 on Thursday, after much reading on this forum. I was still a bit skeptical, but with some of my starting issues, and flame differences when my fan or heater were on, I thought what the heck. Besides, the parts were $80. Wow, what a difference! Bigger, more consistent flame, using far less pellets, and the thing is producing even more heat on less pellets, or so it appears. Oh, and since I am not sucking out my nice warm air, it sure seems to get hotter faster in the house. This leads to me turning it down, saving even more pellets.

So you are saying these lunatics know what they are talking about? Keep that quiet! We don't want them trying to jugle chainsaws or attempting surgery! Even if they did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!

The worst part is, it even made sense!

I've used a chainsaw or two, was never stupid enough to attempt Juggling them as for surgery have a dull serrated steak knife any volunteers?

I too just installed an OAK, I agree with everything you have said, and I also noticed I have not touched the slider/damper since I found the optimum setting.

Naw, your post wasn't cranky, our very own Wenderoth was poking at the Bear and Bears always return such favors. You have to remember this is hibernation season and the boss here keeps waking me up to tend the stove and snow blow the driveway. That makes for a cranky and hungry Bear.

Unpainted house and a 40' chimney and you expect us to not give you a ration? We can understand the 40' foot chimney (there has to be someplace for the heat to go) but that unpainted thing will eventually just cause rot if what is unpainted is wood.

Outside Air Kit. It draws outside air for combustion so it doesn't pull the warm air from inside and blow it out causing cold air to sneak in from every nook and cranny. It prevents negative air pressure in your home.

I went many years without a pellet stove.... Doesn't mean I didn't need one, just meant I didn't know what I was missing until I had one.
