They cool the flue gases down quite a bit and usually are not worth the risk or hassle. What type of stove do you have and what is the flue setup? But with an old inefficient stove that's sending a lot of heat of the flue, it might recover a bit. Expect creosote accumulation to go up proportionately.
 
Definitely not recommended on a modern stove, you've already paid for the efficiency by getting the new stove. This is particularly true for the Blaze King. The flue gases will already be quite cool coming from the stove. Robbing the stack is not a good plan. I like to put double-wall pipe on an EPA stove to insure the flue gases stay warm enough to discourage creosote condensation.

I also forgot to mention, these things are noisy and ugly.
