Does anyone have any comments on the Cheat River pellets? My son-in-law has some and they are burning horrible in his stove. Huge clinkers and they don't seem to burn very well either.

I bought a few bags to try at Lowe's a few weeks ago. I normally use lignetics. Cheat river were lighter and longer. No dust When pouring and hardly no fines. When burned window stayed fairly clean and ash was much lighter when burning but darker after cool down not a lot of it though. Nice bright orange/blue flame so it was getting good air because the ash was not covering the burn pot holes. After shutdown and cleaning the burn pot, I noticed there was no ash on the burn pot holes. Instead it was around the holes and there was no carbon. So for me these are great and would buy ton(s). I do think they burned quicker but I liked them more than lignetics. Only reason why I get lignetics is because the delivery is better than the 75 that Lowe's wants to charge. I have a harman p68

Thanks for the reply. His stove is a Quadra fire CB 1200 about 20 years old. Don't know why but it's getting huge clinkers from those pellets.
The flame is decent but not nearly as good as my CB 1200 just bought a year ago.
Anyway, thanks again I'm glad you like them.

I'm having a problem with cheat river feeding as well...I put some I Hopper and run my hands though them to smash them up...only have 3 bags left I'm not buying these anymore .... way too long

good example above concerning pellet comparisons..
one likes/ one doesn;t..
in the end it always seems to be about which stove is burning the same pellets.

I am very happy with Cheat River, good heat and very few fines. I plan on buying them again when Lowes has their free delivery week for pellets.

I've been pretty happy with Cheats in my Harman Accentra. Not a great pellet, but not anything that I'm upset about burning. I got a better deal on Barefoot's locally, so I stocked up. Otherwise, I wouldn't have any beef burning Cheats.
