Think I’ll use the hydraulic splitter on this one. At least it got put out of its misery.

Yeah, spruce. The tree guy I got it from said they were doing a job for a county park. I’ve been pushing it aside since last summer and the melting snow revealed it once again. I’m sure it’ll split with the hydro splitter but I don’t know how bad I want to wrestle with the oddball lumpy rounds. It’s OWB food but I still split and stack to dry.

I got some free spruce rounds from a tree guy in the neighborhood. Actually I just wanted the chips but the rounds were on top of the pile and I didn't want to be a choosy beggar. Anyway the 22-ton splitter just pulverized the rounds instead of splitting them. Every 6" it hit a knot which would shear off at a different angle. Burns great but the stacks look pretty crooked with all those mangled pieces!

Cut a wedge out the top and build a 12` long fire! Invite the neighborhood over for marshmallows and beer. If they are all there with you, they'll be less likely to call the FD over it, lol.

Ive been working on a pile of spruce like that for the past week. I get all my wood dropped off here for free by a local tree trimmer. There is a reason he drops it off for free, no one wants to split the loads I get. Makes for some ugly piles but it burns.
