I notice on 1200-1 pellet insert it take 15 min before the heat exchanger fan to turn on. Is this normal? I'm new to this pellet stuff. If not normal, is there an adjustment?

It's normal.

Welcome to this forum jjb. Lots of new members signing on of recent, and lots of Quadrafire owners lurk on here as well.

Use the search function link in the upper right corner by searching 'Quadrafire CB 1200i' or 'Quad Classic Bay' and you will find hours and hours of posts for your 'light reading and enlightenment pleasure'. :)

The main Pellet Mill Forum page has many excellent hearthtools threads on general operational topics - Routine Maintenance, Installation and Troubleshooting, Tips if your stove is burning lazy, etc. Lots of great resources, beyond the folks who post on here regularly.

As a new pellet burner, if you haven't already done so, I'd encourage you to pore through your stoves operational manual, at least twice, cover to cover, and utilize some of the excellent how-to and troubleshooting videos that Quadrafire has on-line. They'll help you learn as much as you can about how your stove operates normally, so you'll have a better idea where to start when things aren't burning right.

Pellet stove ownership can be at various times rewarding, frustrating, enlightening, perplexing entertaining, and humiliating ! We've all been there, and that's what this forum is here for ! Hopefully you'll find this unique on-line community to be the welcome respite of compassion when you may be otherwise ready to turn your pellet stove into a decorative planter in your front yard ! !!!

RE your convection (room air) blower delay - my 1st generation Castile takes about 12 mins on medium setting for the firebox to reach the approx 125 F temp it takes before the #1 snap disc closes, and then the convection blower turns on. It comes on a little quicker on the high setting, and takes a little longer on the low setting. It will also vary somewhat on the type / quality of pellets you're burning, and your pellet feed rate, set by the slide gate adjustment in your hopper.

So, 'to make a short story long' jjb...... your 15 mins is normal, as mralias said, in fewer words of course. ;)

Cheers, and again welcome to the 'Quad club' !
