+1 on the propane torch which is stored outside house until needed. I heat the air inside the stove below the flue and then start the wood with it. Keeps any smoke out of the house with start up on a cold day and if the stove is cold. Also, I can get the wood going quickly, which is also nice on a cold morning.
 
So I use a hairdryer to pre heat the flue worked last time great. Going to burn for the most part of tomorrow. I was thinking trying to do a top down to start and fo from there any input?
