Looking into a slightly used Lopi Rockport and owner doesnt have paperwork or anything with specs. I can find specs online but nothing about whether this model would have had their NexGen hybrid technology. And if not, what is the "technology" - these were not catalytic, right?

Help much appreciated. new to this forum but I have read enough to know these are well regarded stoves. Any comments welcome...

It should be a hybrid, with both tubes and combustor. Look above the baffle to see if the cat is in place.

Thanks. I won't be able to see it until i go look but the owner sent another photo with label identifying it as manufactured in July 2019 and is a 'Rockport with Hybrid Fyre'

I'm new to the forum here and i see people asking about sizing, with plenty of sensible "..it depends on various factors..." and no guarantees, which i fully understand. Having said that if anyone has an opinion to offer....

I am renovating an old 450 sq foot cabin, and adding on another 475 sq ft room. Old space is 8' ceilings and will be super insulated. New space is vaulted ceilings and lots of glass, will be super insulated at ceiling and what wall space i have without windows. (i got carried away)
Both old and new spaces are wide open to each other.

I live at 8,000' elevation, burn almost all ponderosa pine.

I know i need to oversize beyond a 900 sq feet guideline. Not sure how much but want to err on the side of having more capacity than i need. I wonder if this Rockport would be a good choice.

I am also looking at a hardly used 2022 Jotul F45 V2.

All opinions, wisdom and experience welcome!

Both stoves will work, especially if the fuel is mostly softwood. The Jotul is a simpler design and can be loaded N/S which has the advantage of fuller loads without worrying about wood rolling up against the door glass.
Where will the stove be placed, in the new section with the vaulted ceiling? Either stove will need a taller flue to compensated for the altitude. 20' straight up should suffice.

Yes, the stove will be placed in the section with the vaulted ceiling, close to the open intersection of both spaces, and am counting on close to 20' straight up.

I also came across today a Hearthstone Heritage , 2015 model 8022 that was never installed. I'm seduced by the beauty and from what i read here there are both some real lovers and disappointed owners in them.

Sounds like more maintenance possibly, but both this and Rockport are suitable. Any thoughts?

Did the Jotul get sold? That would have been my first choice.
