We're off again, a week later than last year but same story. No considerable precipation for the last few months, high winds and hot dry weather.

Here's smoke from a fire taken from our upstairs that got started this afternoon.

We need rain, or we're going to blanket North America in smoke again for another summer.

We could have the smoke from the wildfires this week, we'll see how bad they are.

My brother was quite far north of Whitehorse last week. Internet was down because of a BC fire that damaged a fiber cable.

Going to be another Smokey summer I predict . May be the coming La Niña will change some larger scale patterns but I think it will be too late for this summer.

My brother was quite far north of Whitehorse last week. Internet was down because of a BC fire that damaged a fiber cable.

The only fiber optic cable to the Yukon passes through Fort Nelson, where the fires are in BC, and where the smoke originated in my second picture. Essentially the cable is just layed in the ditch beside the Alaska highway. I was up in Whitehorse a couple years ago when a truck went off the road severing the cable. Only communication in or out was text messages, and they took about an hour to go through.

Yeah he said it was the only connection.

I didn't see a 2025 version of this thread so I'll post this here, starting Tuesday our air quality gets worse.

I just got rid of a sinus infection. Hopefully the smoke isn’t too bad.

The skies cleared just at sundown last night. It was (the sky) a
very deep shade of orange, guess the smoke is starting to roll in.
The west is dry and burning, while here we have had the coolest,
wettest spring I can ever remember

We've had smoke on and off today. Have a fire to the west of us again.

Really getting tired of this, we finally got some rain this weekend, but not near enough. Seems to be the same every year now, little snow in the winter, and a dry spring until at least June.

The smoke haze has made it to PEI. Nice day though. Not bad enough to worry too much here. Wind is from the SW.

Radio this morning was talking about wearing masks to help filter out the smoke. They must expect it to be bad

I went for a walk here and really I could not tell. It is supposed to go up to 26C tomorrow though so maybe it will get worse.

It isn't bad today, we're at the low end of moderate, tomorrow should be better.

Apparently we in Saskatchewan and Manitoba have PEI fire fighters helping with the fires in western Canada. Hope they can be sent home soon.
Im in Manitoba up on lake winnipeg and im up with the wiener dog before 6 every morning walking the beach and last couple of days I had to cut the walk down as just too smokey.byrning eyes and a headache.

Oh that sucks. The whole world turns upside down when you can't breath and be outside.

Today the entire sky was grey white. The sun was out, but it was like one huge cloud. Still not bad though.
I don't think anyone would have breathing issues as I couldn't smell it during a walk.

Smoke was real bad this morning, couldn't hang laundry outside,it's cleared up this afternoon, time for a BBQ and cold beer.
