We had 50 for a low when we got up, it did feel great.

I expect the heat index to reach 112 F (44C) tomorrow. Third or fourth day over 105. Air temp 97 for tomorrow. Probably will chill the house down tonight to 75-76 so we don’t get over 80.

We didn't have any severe storms but we did get some heavy rains yesterday and during the night. The whole county was really dry so they have a burn ban on, more rain would be nice.

We have forest fires all around in NB, NS and NFLD. It has been very dry and hot. We are breaking out of it now and expecting rain.
Going to be a good day for the Gold Cup and Saucer parade, and the final race on Saturday. You can watch on line
Edit - went for a walk after breakfast/lunch and the smoke has rolled in from the fire in N.B. I think. You can see, smell and taste it.
It was Ok a couple of hours earlier on my first walk. I hope we get the storm and rain tonight.

We are under a fire ban, no open burning of any kind .
3 fires no that far from me, by that I mean less than a hundred miles.
A little rain yesterday, but not enough. It was the first we have had
in 3 weeks. Even the river is very low, we are seeing rocks that we
have never seen above water in the 46 years I have lived here

We broke some temperature records (all time) here over the last couple of days. No burning here anywhere. I guess in NS and NB you can'tgo in the woods or 25000 fine. That fire up near the Burnt River is where I had a cottage in Kinmount.

This was the final race for $100,000. It's pretty good.

Weather here is nice. Sunny and less humidity. Still very dry, really no rain where I am. Complete fire ban. The hurricane I was watching Erin was Cat 5 but weakened out at sea. I bet folks on the east coast of the US were watching that one.

We don't have any severe weather coming in that I saw this morning but we're supposed to get about 3/4 of an inch of rain today, we really need that.

We've gotten a bit of rain today...not nearly enough though. It's been perfect weather to sit around a camp fire and burn
'uglies' but we can't due to how dry it is.

The other side of that, is think how dry the firewood will be!!!

I got 1/8" of rain yesterday morning. First rain in over 2 weeks. It was over two weeks before that for the previous rain (which fell all at once so didn't soak in at all). In a moderate drought area, but it feels worse.

I've only had 2 times in the 12 years I've been here that I used more than my allotted share of town water (we get 7,000 gals every quarter for flat rate, then upcharge for more). My latest bill I used 7,700 gals - for a single person). I already have a feeling that next quarter is going to be another upcharge. I usually only water a couple of raised gardens, but I'm also having to water my rhodies (that are decades old) and a couple of other well-established shrubs. The drainage area on the south side of the property usually has at least some water in it, or at least is moist - but it is bone dry.
