Sometimes I fantasize about a heated driveway that clears itself.
I have a big Ariens snowblower, but I don't like to blow wet snow. I would have, but it was a windy day. I'm kicking myself in the butt now.
I got it cleared, but was running out of juice.

Dang, thats' colder than a witch's t!t.
Yeah, thankfully these cold snaps are always short lived. I'd say we hit 0 about 2-3 times a year. Where I grew up, 40 miles northwest of here and 500ft higher elevation, we would routinely see temps below 0 degrees in the winter.
One of those cold nights my buddy had stayed late video gaming and learned the hard way what the "W" in 10W30 stands for. Didn't get his car started until 2pm the next day.

I lived probably about 50-60? miles south west of there in Cornwall, CT. Zero degree days were not too common. The coldest I remember was -15ºF one year. My Volvo wouldn't start. The local garage suggested lighting a fire under the crankcase! I stoked up the wood cookstove instead and waited a couple days for it to pass.

I've heard people talk about lighting a fire under their car but never seen anyone actually do it. That's a good way to enter yourself for the Darwin awards.
Yes, he was an old timer. That might work with a model T and gravity fed gas, but not with the fuel pump down low on the engine block.

10*F right now (1:45 am). Supposed to get down to about 3*F. Then Monday, into negative territory.

Later in the season, it is not uncommon to hit -18*F several times (although last time that happened was several years ago). I have had years where the high didn't get out of single digits for a couple of weeks.

Here's what I woke up to in my kitchen. I guess I need to set the clock ect.
Heat pumps on, but turned down as low as they will go which is 16C.
The one in the living room was blowing a bit of hot air. It is almost new.
My other one is not even trying which is good as it is old does not work good on heat.
It does seem to cool OK, so I hope it keeps going.
The pellet stove ran all night perfectly. Didn't use too many pellets. I had the
house circulation fan on low. The new AC Infinity blower works way better than my old blower.
I also replaced 3 windows this spring and that is making a huge difference.
Edit - I did have electric heat on too maybe set at 18C. They were not working hard, maybe 1 bar out of 5
Edit 2 - Just found out some people had no power all night ! Stratford (sister city to Charlottetown) no power.
and many more north of there. I sure hope they had a plan to keep warm.

I quite like doing the snow removal on the driveway between the old 90's quad/blade and big old Ariens blower (12 36). Problem is it rarely snows at the right time where work doesn't interfere and there is almost always someone who has driven over it, wet snow, or rain that has followed the snow. Seems it could almost always be a few degrees cooler...
Our driveway is over 300 yards with parking for maybe 12 near the house, super rewarding, especially when the snow is just right, deep and cooperating. Which is almost never...
I added a couple Amazon led lights powered off a tool battery to the blower, that sure helps.

Mine has the headlight as it was a "Deluxe Model". Also heated grips. Might be able to add the light as an option.
One thing that would work is a USB rechargeable headband light. I have a bike light that is rechargeable too.

10x brighter than the OEM one that is still hooked up. 2x 15w
Thanks guys, I ordered a 2 pack of magnetic lights. Not sure if the magnets are strong enough to deal with the amount of vibration of a blower. If not I've got two more LEDs on hand to use if the power goes out or as work lights. I will check back once I get them.

Monday night says hold my beer and watch this!
