We had 6-6.5" of snow.
It was 20 -25 F when it fell, and 27 when I shoveled it. Flakes were powder like, no big flakes .
I tried to blow it off the cars with my (gas, stihl) leaf blower but other than a 1/4" from the top that blew away,.it would not budge.

Gotta get myself a snow rake on a 5 ft pole for the RAV4. I can do the roof with my 1 ft brush but it forces me to hug the car to get to the other side, and snow sliding in my neck is not ideal...
If you push the snow off the other side it won’t fall down your neck!

We're in for a mess if it happens. They're calling for 0.33 of rain, 0.23 of ice and 40 mph gust starting tomorrow night. What a winter so far, lots of snow & cold, can't wait for the colder months!

Can't; roof rack guides.
I have to push it off the back side. But either I push stuff backwards in small sections (taking a long time), or do everything in one go (if the snow allows that) - but then it spills over the side where I stand.

Up here everybody just drives down the road at 50 and it clears off!

I like those maps! I should get nothing!!

That can get you a fine of $1500...

And with the wet snow we get, and that creates nice sheets of ice.
I've twice dodged one driving 60 mph. As in otherwise it would have landed in my lap.

I curse those who endanger others by being lazy in this way.

Curious when those maps are from? I just looked for my area, about 10-15 minutes from where you are and we have a pretty good chance of getting at least .25" of ice.

Those are the best maps I’ve seen! Lol.

Weather is what it is. I keep a duffel of recovery gear in my back seat just incase I need it. I’ve used it to pull others out more than once!

Looks to me those maps are elevation based. It looks like temps are going to be above freezing. The mountains will force the rain up into colder temps.

My 3rd flight today is supposed to get me home (NH) either during, or shortly after the mess of ice/mix falls. I'll ber lucky if they don't cancel my flight and I have to spend the night in baltimore airport. Even if I get to NH, I may end up getting a hotel until daylight. I usually won't drive at night, but will if I know the route well. Add icy roads to the mix, and I'll pass. Already told pet sitter to plan on taking care of everyone Monday morning.

I’m planning for Monday morning to be the bad part.

It all depends on when that storm hits and the temperature.

Here it was 30 for the high yesterday, and we had some melting on the roads. It's 18 now (much lower than the 27 forecast) and some black ice formed on the roads.

Wife did get to the hospital safely with a few slips and slides.

Safe travels @bogieb

I’m glad she made it safely!

Safe travels everybody! Tonight/tomorrow could be interesting.

I don’t see any fog out my back window.

The wife and I were laughing about the weather during her cousin’s visit from Houston. 80F when they left Houston.

One was freaking out about the amount of snow. We dropped off some extra boots and lots of wool socks for them.

It looks like the battery in my wife’s car needs replacing. They had to jump us last night with their rental.

It was 10F when we left their Air B&B last night. I checked accuweather this morning it’s 4F there!

They’re planning on trying downhill for the first time today. I hope it’s not windy!

They have been warned about the chance of ice storm tonight/tomorrow morning.

They’re getting the full NY winter weather experience! lol.

The forecast for Eastern Ontario is for 20 mm of freezing rain (3/4 of an inch)
Tomorrow morning should be fun. I guess I'd better exercise my genny sometime today
This may make Monday morning fun. The wife goes back to work after 2 weeks off.
She is not a happy camper

Thanks for sending it to me. The only good thing is on Wednesday it's going to be 4C and sunny. I guess I will be cleaning my stove then. Ours freezing rain starts late, and then will turn to rain. You never know about the power though. I was out checking the batteries in my generators yesterday.

We just did the drive up to Acton ME. Expecting .25-.5” of ice accumulation. According to the 3.5 year old when she finally saw snow and stepped out into the cold “this is real Christmas”. It was 71 on Xmas day and we ate outside in NC.

Went outside to check the ice. I need to be on the road 6:30 tomorrow morning. It’s bad. I spread a lot of CaCO3 in hopes I can get everyone to the truck safely. I brought some inside so I can spread on my way out the door and steps.

Should be interesting tomorrow morning. I hope I can get at least 1 door open on the truck.

I have no where to be tomorrow, but if I don’t get the ice off tomorrow the high Tuesday is 17! I just realized I have no way to clear snow of the top of a 10’ tall van. Maybe a rope and pool noodles? So when power goes out there are 9 of us to feed. I’m crossing my fingers the generac is working a the tanks are full. I’m an expert at running an F400 but with no water we’re melting snow. At least there is some snow! Kids were so excited. “Dad I was running in the snow in my bare feet! They’re burning!” 🤦

We did something right raising kids. we about decided not to make the 960 mile trip on Thursday. weather window and holiday exhaustion. I was presented with a Google slide show laying out all the reasons and ending with the sad puss in boots face captioned “please” with way too many repeating vowels. 15 hours and 55 minutes I stopped for a a coffee and Wendy’s and bathrooms. So we beat the ice storm.

We will see what tomorrow brings.

Edit… to top things off I’m sleeping in an unheated bedroom (we have a space heater). And yes it’s the same one with no AC I slept in this summer when it was 85 in here. Now it’s 55.;)

The ice is thick! I have no notice the tournament isn’t on so I just spread some more calcium carbonate. I’m glad I did it last night. It’s 33 and pouring at the moment. I really hope I can get the doors open. There might be a quarter to half inch holding it shut!

Kids are dropped off at the school.

When we drove up to get my kid’s best friend, we found her sitting on the ground. She didn’t see a reason to get back up until I pulled up, lol.

The wife and I will follow down in about a half hour. I’ve been given instructions to arrive with a hot breakfast sandwich for 1 and a donut where the donut is made of chocolate for the other. They don’t want to be tempted until after weigh ins, lol.

I'm not sure what to make of our weather here. It's 32 and very foggy. It rained some last night. As of last night it was supposed to rain all day temps in mid 40's by now. Will check the revised weather report shortly. Looks like a good day to stay put and melt the ice off the vehicles, most likely. Haven't stepped outside yet. Still working on coffee. Priorities.
