So, near two years ago I started working on a website for my small local firewood business, I had an idea to build a firewood calculator for my customers to answer some of their common questions. It turned out to be fairly popular so I improved it and started posting it around so people could use it, I made one such post on these forums, here >> https://www.hearth.com/talk/threads/accurate-firewood-btu-values-100-woods-rated.206607/

Well, I never stopped working on it. It has evolved and grown into a full fledged app with quite a large set of features, I just opened it up yesterday. Easiest way to see what it is all about is this short video:

If you prefer to read the wall of text though here it is:

Track your wood
- Log every stack you own: species, volume, moisture %, and what you paid
- Photograph each stack, and opt in to show it in the public Stack Gallery
- Voice input: say what you stacked and it fills in the entry for you

Burn tracking and savings
- Record each burn; every entry is auto-tagged with that day's weather (temp, wind, snow)
- See your real heating cost versus electricity, oil, propane, and gas, in dollars
- Year-over-year charts of how much you burned and saved
- Shareable burn-history link

BTU and reference tools
- Interactive BTU tables with a live moisture slider (real FAO physics, not a static chart)
- Compare up to 4 species side by side: heat, weight, coaling, burn time
- Cost-of-heat layer that uses your own local fuel prices
- Blend and volume calculator: weight, BTU, and fuel mix of any combination before you buy
- In-chat firewood bot: ask !btu oak 30% and get the numbers

Forecasts
- On-demand 12h / 24h burn forecasts based on the weather and your own usage history
- Optional scheduled morning reports, in-app and by email

Community
- Member chat: channels and direct messages, reactions, @mentions, GIFs, image and file sharing
- Kindling and Rings: earn community points for logging wood, posting photos, and referrals
- Member giveaways and leaderboards
- Embertide: a cozy firewood survival mini-game that plays out in chat

Due to how fast bots are advancing with AI I have decided to make it invite only, I think this is the most efficient way to keep it clean.

It lives here: https://firewoodtracker.com
