How many inches is it from the front of the stove to the beginning of the opening of the top exhaust?

Where the heck are you gonna find an NC30 owner to measure it for you?

Good luck ;)

Little groggy today. This might have gone right over my head. Just in case I'm; I am referring to external measurements.

Again. Very tired today. Sorry in advance if I missed the joke.

It was a funny, dozens of NC30 owners on this site and I bet most of them can use a measurin stick. I'm just waiting to see who's first.

Go have a few beers and wake up

17 5/8 inches.....I may be wrong....but I put effort into it for ya Bar... ;-)
Forgive if wrong...off my game today...

I thought that's what you were getting at, but I was looking at my post blankly wondering if I inadvertently typed something that made zero sense.

And beer would put me right out at this point.

That would be perfect if your measurements are correct. Thank you.

Between running a large stove the last few weeks and the Q&A session BBart was nice enough to do, I am convinced that the 30 will work. So, blammo, getting a 30 within the next 8 month.

Hopefully BB will chime in with his measurements..... :-S
I so love my 30....hope ya get one Bar...

Just a lack of sleep. Nothing that can't be fix with some rum and a pillow. Thanks, though!

17 1/2" from the front of the top plate to the front of the flue collar. 21" from the front of the flue collar to the front edge of the ash lip.

Englander really needs to update their docs for some stoves. Or at least provide sufficient online documentation. Heck I will draw it out for them if they will post a top, side, and front view with dimensions.

Both of those measurements will work. Good. Wasn't looking forward to having to mess with an elbow or something.

You bought the optional Extra Large version of the 30 Gamma. The Chief model.

I did order it from Mike...he said it would give me an extra "bang" for my buck and it was a "special" limited Gamma edition.....guess that is why I am getting 20 plus hours on one load..... :cheese:

I wouldn't hold out for 8 months if you can swing it. These things are flying out of a Home Depot in VA for $650.

A buck and a half a pound. Delivered.

They were listed at this price up through August of last year. Besides, I already blew this quarters stove budget on a Defiant last month. The Englander will have to wait until June/July.

When the new one gets here I will take the tape to it. I noticed today that on the Home Depot site they now have the actual measurements inside the firebox. That is a first for most makers I think. And the measurement is with the baffle and bricks installed.

Unless a good deal comes up on Craig's list for a used defiant before then.

Todd isn't buying into my used stove sobriety. The odds of me finding another like-new cat Defiant (with new assembly and cat) for $400 is really slim. Obviously, if one comes up for $400, then yeah, guilty as charged.

$600 delivered to my door is mighty good.

But, man am I tired of driving all over the northeast to lift a stove into the back of a truck, drive back, and lift the thing out of the truck. I've driven to Upstate New York, New Hampshire, Central Maryland, and Central Pennsylvania for four of the stoves. Two of the trips were during snow storms.

And here I thought me and Todd had it bad. You have the crown.

It's getting embarrassing. I need to get this last stove out of the way before they have me committed. The 30 will be the sixth stove in five years. Three stoves within the last twelve months (July: Encore, February: Defiant, June?: Englander)

A few years ago somebody put up a thread "What Is Your Hobby?". I responded "Heating my house.". Blew off golf and watching sports a long time ago. Just could never seem to blow off being warm. I have a couple of Jotuls I have to seriously start getting rid of. Nice little farts and I love burning in them but the second big boy is now coming to town.

Anyway, buying a second 30 says I ain't ever gonna mess with a Progress or Blaze King. Some of us are traditionalists. Give me big steel non-cats or give me death! :coolsmirk: I dance with the ones that brung me for the last 30 years.
