Finally, I can afford to turn my garage into my work shop with heat. I have insulated the walls, put up OSB boards on the walls and ceiling, filled up the 2 x 8s joist with blow in insulation. Garage is starting to come around. I bought a 45000 btu heater from Menards. on sale plus 11% rebate. I saved $100. right there. Now the question. I'm going to run the exhaust out the side wall because if I go up, the 2nd floor eve is in way plus windows. Out the side wall is a clean shot. Can I use B vent in the horizontal position? Is it safe? I seen the stain less vent also and that stuff is crazy cost.
Thanks for you help. Fespo

Your install manual is your guidance on this issue. It will (or SHOULD) tell
you what venting configurations are acceptable.
Be careful, whatever method you choose that meets the requirements.
Your B-Vent draws combustion air from INSIDE the building.
You ABSOLUTELY do not want any flammable liquids in your shop.

Bvent is safe for horizontal runs, but not every appliance that uses bvent can be vented horizontally. You need to make sure the unit's manual says it can be vented horizontally. Most appliances with a forced draft/vent-fan can be sidewall vented.

Thanks, The owner manual says it can be mounted horizontally so Im going with B vent.

It would be wise to have an HVAC company to come in and do a maintenance on it at least. They can check incoming gas pressure, manifold pressure, temp rise, venting and do a combustion analysis on a simple maintenance.

I've heated a garage using B Vent chimney piping and I had flammable liquids in the garage but they were all capped and sealed and kept on the opposite end of the heater. I never had any problems but use your own judgement.

What are the restrictions for Gas fuelled appliance installations in Illinois? Most safety authorities or municipalities set pretty clear guidelines for Homeowner installs.
The manual is your friend, as already stated, If you are allowed to install it yourself .
