8" flue is usually reserved for very large stoves. Examples would be: Kuma Sequoia, Hearthstone Equinox, Regency F5100, BlazeKing King, Canyon 310 optional, HighValley 2500, or Buck 80 for a more moderately sized stove. What kind of chimney does he have and how much space does he want to heat? Maybe an easier breathing stove would also work if the flue is tall enough.

Im running my 30 into 8" and cant imagine what the draw would be with a 6" - I already shut the primary all the way down and cover the secondary holes with magnets to keep it under 800 degrees.

The smaller the flue the better it drafts?

YES - smaller = stronger draft until you reach a point of diminished return in diameter.

Not technically. The draft does not actually change the velocity and volume does but the pressure differential stays the same. A smaller flue will have more velocity but less volume While a large one will move much slower but move more volume.

BHoller -that makes perfect sense to me. I stand corrected. Athough, and just so the original question is answered correctly, the airflow will be faster with a smaller flue creating more heat in the process(all other things being equal)

Yes you are right there it is just a very common mis understanding that i thought i should correct. And changing the size does change the performance characteristics allot just not the actual draft.
