I just read the above website link and it seems to be a good summary of commonly given advice on this forum to new burners. Probably more relevant in the fall, but I'd probably forget about it by then and maybe it'll come up in their searces from within this forum.
 
Woodheat has lots of good information about chimneys, stoves, fuel. etc.
