I can’t wait either. Chomping at the bit. Weather is still fairly warm here. High today is 84F. Lows at night are dropping steadily each week though. I’m figuring mid October will be the first fire for us.

I'm ready. Felt odd filling up the house with wood when the temp was in the 80s this weekend....fall is coming.
No hurry here. We'll be stoking the fires soon enough. For the early shoulder season days we'll let the heat pump carry the load.
Yeah same here. No hurry at all. I would gladly keep this weather year round. But then I wouldn't have much work
Neighbor sparked one up. Similar 1963 age house but less insulation added. We were still 72 inside the home. It is coming soon though. Been picking fruit, pumpkins, getting ready to plant garlic.

Got a buddy coming by on Wednesday to help me sweep the chimney, as I can't risk getting up on the roof right now post shoulder v2.0.

I finally got the motivation and did mine last weekend. Glad to be ready minus a door gasket replacement.
Been burning wood since 1980 and still look forward to it every year, Yeah, I'm old.

Had some upper 30’s for lows recently and cabin has been has been hanging at 67-70 so we’re getting close.
September is when I get tired of heat and humidity and look forward to burning wood.
February is when I get tired of hauling wood into the house and I start dreaming of a warm sun.

I'm ready. I can't stand this weather. It's been in the nineties more this year than I ever remember. The humidity hasn't been as bad as normal though so I guess that's a blessing. I welded up a wood rack so I can stack wood more vertical and take up less floor space on my porch. I always just stacked on a pallet. It was 90 or so this past weekend and I was about to go outside when my wife asked, "what are you doing now". I replied with, "i think I'm going to get the wood stacked up so we are ready when we need it". She looked at me like I was nuts. We are probably a month away from burning here still though.

Yeah I think it's getting close to starting shoulder season fires. We've had nights in the low 50's and that certainly gets you in the mood but for me that's still too warm for even a short fire to light for a few hours then let it die out. I love autumn, it's my favorite time of year. Temps for me are just perfect this time of year and with the tree's starting to turn color....This winter I'll be burning 90% ash that was split in 2019 it should perform nicely.
Late October, early November. Last year October was pretty warm all month.
You all have the rainy season coming in October. I read Seattle doesn't actually have that much rainfall, it is spread out so it just seems like a lot.
My brother lives in Portland and he loves the rain in the city because that means he can go skiing in the mountains.
Seattle used to have about the same rainfall as NYC, but these days the weather is out of whack. Octobers used to be rainy and cold here, but they have been drier and milder some recent years. Rain is finally expected and welcome at the end of the week. We have had 0.11 inches of rain in 3 months.

I may haves some pleasure fires in October but serious burning starts in mid-November usually.
