temps dipped to a frosty -3 Celsius on the weekend, so we fired up the stove for a couple of quick fires in the evening and morning....and as much as I wished I could hold off and save the firewood forever it is still such a beautiful sight and feel to have the stove going!

I'm gettin' the bug myself. Won't be too long now. I haven't gone out and gotten any wood yet for next year and was thinking not too, but I don't think I can stay away from it.

I got the stove ready a couple of weeks ago, and put a small amount in the wood box, but I actually think it will be a week, or possibly even two, before I have to build a fire. We're still in sweater season here in Virginia.

love the NC30...when winter hits we run it around the clock and only use the electric as a backup for when we are away from home for extended periods of time, with a full firebox of seasoned hardwood i can get a 10-12 hour burn time and maintain enough of a coal bed that a fire can usually be lit 18-20 after loading the stove without using a match. This will be our fourth winter running the stove and I may need to change the "boards" above the secondary air tubes this winter....possibly do that when we get home boxing day after christmas as that is usually the only time we are gone long enough during the winter for our stove to cool down long enough.

and on a positive note the temps are back up to nearly 20 c during the day here so no fires in the forecast until after thanksgiving ( this weekend for us crazy canucks)
